Pre-KHVD Symposium Meeting
KHVD is an acronym of koi herpesvirus disease. The Pre-KHVD Symposium Meeting was organized by the Aquaculture Department of Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC/AQD) at the Conference Room of the Fisheries Research Agency of Japan (FRA) in Yokohama, Japan on 12 March 2004 as a satellite meeting of the International Symposium on Koi Herpesvirus Disease.
Participants to this meeting were nine scientists from the SEAFDEC member countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam) and three scientists from the SEAFDEC/AQD. Attendance of 11 scientists from Southeast Asia (excluding Thailand) at the meeting was funded by the Regional Fish Disease Project which was supported by the Government of Japan (GOJ) Trust Fund. The participants were: Srun Lim Song (Cambodia); Agus Sunarto (Indonesia); Chintana Chanthavisouk (Lao PDR); Azilah bte Abdullah (Malaysia); Daw Myat Myat Htwe (Myanmar); Joselito R. Sogma (Philippines); Ling Kai Huat (Singapore); Somkiat Kanchanakhan (Thailand); Tran Thi Kim Chi (Vietnam); Rolando R. Platon, Gilda D. Lio-Po and Kazuya Nagasawa (SEAFDEC/AQD).
The participants from the SEAFDEC member countries reported on the current status of KHV disease, fish disease quarantine and surveillance in their respective countries. The program of the meeting follows:
